Acorn Park
Constructed circa the 1850s, this acorn-shaped gazebo can be found in Acorn Park, located near the intersection of East-West Highway and Newell Street, in Silver Spring, Maryland (by the new Discovery Channel Production Facility).  The park is all that remains of Francis Preston Blair's estate, "Silver Spring," named after his discovery in 1840 of a nearby mica-speckled spring.

The above text is from the Silver Spring Landmarks Series of Bookmarks, Friends of the Silver Spring Library.
The above picture comes from a postcard published in the late 1940s.
